The Role

A rare opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Membership Association Groups Executive supporting both the Membership and Commercial and Associations teams. As a Membership Association Groups Executive, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maximising commercial income streams to support FDF's work for its members. The role will focus principally on identifying and establishing food sector group opportunities, and converting to revenue streams
  • Establishing and managing new sector groups and their committees by providing Secretariat support and assist these members on relevant food policy issues.
  • Provision of advice to members and sector groups on wider food industry areas of interest including, regulatory, scientific and environmental developments.
  • Identifying new sector group opportunities to meet FDF members needs in specialist food sector areas, to grow commercial revenues.
  • Creation and set up of new sector groups, identifying members to invite and developing prospect lists and undertaking recruitment activity for non-members
  • Targeted membership recruitment activity
  • Manage Association & Groups committee members, and stakeholders and, where necessary, refer these for the appropriate action.
  • Monitoring relevant scientific, technical and regulatory developments, including policy proposals as they relate to the food sector groups.
  • Providing information and advice to FDF members, associations and sector groups and where appropriate other trade associations.
  • Preparation and circulation of Association and Group papers (e.g. agendas, resources, action lists and minutes).
  • Attending and reporting on relevant external meetings and pursuing actions arising.
  • Helping to communicate policies clearly and accurately, by keeping members informed through appropriate channels.

The Team

FDF’s commercial team is responsible for recruiting and retaining members; member and professional affiliate communications; developing income generating services, marketing and planning events, including the Food and Drink Federation Awards and Annual Industry Dinner.

FDF’s Regulation and Science team provide a timely and expert service to members on technical and regulatory developments of interest to the UK food and drink industry.  The team covers a wide range of issues including Allergens, Food Contact Materials, Food Hygiene, Food Ingredients, Food Law and Labelling, New Technologies and Residues and Contaminants and support a number of serviced Sector Associations on specific category areas of interest.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the food and drink industry and government bodies
  • Knowledge of related food technical and regulatory issues
  • Relevant experience in industry, trade association or similar organisation is desirable
  • Responsible self-starter
  • Interest in developing commercial skills
  • Strong ability to manage a diverse workload and a wide range of issues
  • Good ability to sustain a range of working relationships
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good administrative ability
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • IT literate with experience of Word, PowerPoint and Excel
