Technical Administrator/Spec Tech - South Yorkshire 

£27,000 to £30,000 

 

Reporting to the Site Technical Manager, the successful Technical Administrator/Spec Tec will be responsible for managing and maintaining the QA and technical admin systems to ensure compliance with food safety legislation and ensuring they are audit ready at all times. Training will be provided if you have not written specs previously.

Day to day duties include:

  • To drive and implement the sites, and Group’s Food Safety and Quality Culture Plan
  • To champion product quality and drive the customer experience quality action plan
  • Management of KPI data (customer complaints and online reviews) to ensure fully updated and accurate
  • To deputise for completion of the Technical KPI reports (internal and external)
  • To manage the coordination of investigations to ensure the root cause analysis of customer complaints is completed and fed back to the customer
  • To manage quality trends of Online reviews to meet retailer targets and introducing quality improvements through the customer experience plan
  • To oversee out of specification management investigations and update internal systems
  • Undertake full process audits as and when required within the factory and completion of detailed reports to internal stakeholders
  • Management of all FSC (Food Contact) packaging.  Ensuring database is managed, reviewed and maintained and that all specific checks are undertaken within specified time limit.  BRC approval, specification version and risk assessments.  All links must be in use and up to date
  • Ensure that all Nutritional testing is undertaken for all NPD and EPD as per critical path and procedure.  Results of these tests will be communicated to relevant NPD for adding to retailer specification systems
  • Assisting with quality basket panels, ensuring they are undertaken at pre-defined frequencies or as and when required.  Purchasing of ingredients from store and results logged onto relevant database.  Results to be shared on completion
  • Assisting with consistency panels, ensuring they are undertaken at pre-defined frequencies.  Purchasing of ingredients from store and results logged onto relevant database.  Results to be shared on completion
  • Assisting with benchmarking panels, ensuring they are undertaken at pre-defined frequencies.  Purchasing of ingredient from store and results logged onto relevant database.  Results to be shared on completion
  • To participate in training, in accordance with your personal training plan
  • Carry out additional duties that may be reasonably requested by internal stakeholders and Group technical function.

To assist and be full trained in the below:

  • Completing and reviewing food safety risk assessments for raw materials
  • To assist with the completion & review of raw material specifications for both supplier / ABP format
  • Management and continual improvement of raw material supplier database and records for site and group
  • Coordination of due diligence testing for raw materials
  • Assist in the preparation for BRC, Soil association, Beef labelling, ABM and other third party audits
  • Coordinating with the Technical Development Manager and NPD manager for preparation of the launch documents and development packs from concept through to launch
  • Support with the critical path for the hive process, hive specification for primal and retail pack sites
  • Support approvals for all label deliveries for new and reprints 
  • Coordinating with the Technical Development Manager for the timely design and sign off-of artwork
  • Management of product history files electronic and paper copies
  • Attend appropriate meetings as required
  • Completion of sub packs from concept through to product approval, including theoretical nutrition calculations

The successful Technical Administrator/Spec Tech will ideally be degree qualified in a food or science related subject with experience of QA / Technical systems admin in a complex food manufacturing environment. Food Safety Level 3 or equivalent is required along with minimum of HACCP Level 2.

  • Background in a Food Manufacturing Environment, preferably within protein.
  • Awareness of Technical and Technical systems
  • Able to use their own initiative
  • Self-motivated and able to develop an excellent knowledge of products
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • IT competent including Excel, Word, Email and PowerPoint
