Firstly, as a H&S Manager, the above work environment probably sends a cold shiver down your spine (please excuse the pun). This advert is not recruiting for a polar exploration to the Antarctic. The wage is good (you will also get an industry leading car allowance/car and bonuses on top of this). Hours are 8.30am - 5.00pm Monday - Friday with a flexible working policy in place. Certainly you would expect a safe return.
However there are a few similarities. It is working in a cold environment. Additionally, after good commercial wins there are significant operational improvements to be made meaning that honour and recognition will be available should you be successful. It won't be the easiest H&S job you apply to. There is a culture piece that needs to be considered. However, changes are already underway within the business and significantly, there is a lot of "low hanging fruit" for you to be able to quickly look at and improve.
You should ideally have your NEBOSH diploma. However most important is your ability to engage with a large factory and put H&S on the map and help over 1,000 staff have that lightbulb moment that their health is everyone's priority and not a department. Food/drink manufacturing is ideal but any manufacturing/logistics background will be considered should you be able to demonstrate the above.
