 Description & Requirements

First Line Manager responsible for leading the production teams on a shift and daily basis. Delivery of production plan and OEE performance for the area of control whilst maintaining and improving standards and policies- manage within established company guidelines and precedents  

  • Supervises employees on an assigned shift to ensure manufacture of products- parts- components- or assemblies- or to perform service functions within established timing- quality- and cost standards.  

  • Has greater emphasis than Unit Supervisors I and II on skilled operations- such as machining- continuous process operations- assembly- and testing- quality assurance- and troubleshooting.  

  • Supervises production activities to ensure manufactured products meet or exceed all established quality requirements- including product integrity and production order documentation.

  • Directs all related personnel actions- including final selection- training- performance appraisal- discipline- safety- and grievance procedures in unionized environments.

  • Resolves manufacturing priorities based on established weekly production schedules and makes daily assignments.

  • Interprets specifications and makes judgments about the acceptability of production that is in process.

  • Implements departmental safety programs to ensure safety of employees working in the area.

  • Assures product quality. 

  • Assists operators in problem solving and exercises considerable judgment.

  • Directs routine equipment Maintenance and set-up.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/PROFICIENCIES – 

  • Min 3 years’ experience of operating in a fast paced production environment 

  • Basic engineering understanding. 

  • Experience of delivering sustainable improvement plans which have given to business success. 

  • Strong leadership competencies required with the ability to demonstrate a systematic approach to problem solving. 

  • Ability to lead others and identify specific business improvement opportunities 

  • Be able to communicate efficiently at all levels and ensure communications are clear and understood- be able to engage and motivate teams and union partners when adapting and embracing change programs
