Quality Manager / Assistant Technical Manager
Our client is a long-established, innovative agricultural business located in the Scottish Borders. The company has developed from its origins as a farm-based enterprise to a nationwide processor of added-value vegetables.
As Quality Manager / Assistant Technical Manager, you will be supporting the Technical team with some responsibility for the technical and QA activities on site and supporting to delivering the technical agenda, supported by a multi-disciplined and talented Technical and Quality team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform as a highly skilled member of the management team on all things quality, compliance and food safety to support and deliver the department objectives
- Be an active member of the company HACCP system and the deputy HACCP Team Leader
- Ensure that the site is fully prepared for all retailer, customer and technical food safety audits (Unannounced and Announced).
- Ensure that all company documentation is kept up to date to enable attainment and maintenance of BRCGS/Retailer accreditation, compliance with supermarket audit requirements, and adherence to all relevant legislation.
- Deputise in the Head of Technical & Technical Manager's absence
- Internal auditing against the BRCGS and retailer standards and codes of practices
- Responsible for some day-to-day customer queries - including the major retailers
Your experience
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual with a good technical / QA track record within food manufacturing (ideally Fresh Produce). This role may suit an existing QA Manager or Technical Supervisor looking for progression.
Ideally educated to a degree level in a food science discipline, you will be a natural team leader, have high attention to detail and be customer-focused. You will also be Food Safety and HACCP qualified plus ideally Lead Auditor.
You will be able to demonstrate working knowledge of specifications, factory technical management, retailer customer requirements and experience of involvement in food safety audits such as BRCGS.
A driving licence is recommended due to the site location.
There may be occasional travel with this role within UK and abroad visiting customers and suppliers.
