Job Details

Our client, an innovative Chilled Food Manufacturer is looking for a Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager for their site based in Pembrokeshire.  The successful candidate will provide professional support and guidance to other site Leadership team members and colleagues on all operational Safety, Health and Environment matters.

Reporting to the Site Director, responsibilities for the role will include:

  • Developing, delivering and managing the site SHE programmes, policies and procedures to improve performance.  Providing site insight, governance, data and KPIs to drive improvements and effective risk management
  • Helping maintain safety for staff and visitors, ensuring that employees are sufficiently knowledgeable about, and conform to, legislation to ensure operations are compliant
  • Providing up-to-date advice, guidance and support to employees and the Management Team to maximise SHE capabilities on site
  • Managing site SHE budgets
  • Investigating and resolving SHE accidents and incidents
  • Ensuring that Safety, Health and Environment matters are considered in all projects in line with BAT (Best Available Techniques) and insurance requirements
  • Co-ordinating and managing local stakeholder relationships
  • Ensuring that Safety, Health and Environment incidents are reported to the enforcing authorities, in accordance with the requirements of relevant regulations, to ensure legal compliance

 

 

Essential / Desirable skills include:

  • Previous experience working in a Health and Safety or Environmental Manager position
  • Demonstrable experience of coaching and influencing colleagues at all levels of the business
  • An ability to demonstrate a passion for driving improvements in H&S and Environment
  • Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills
  • The ability to have both an open-minded and decisive approach
  • Good organisational and prioritisation skills - Proficient in IT, including MS Office
  • A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent would be beneficial to your application, as would an IMEA certificate or equivalent
  • A certified training qualification, membership or equivalent experience would also be advantageous (eg IOSH membership, CMIOSH, Trained lead auditor in ISO14001 and or OHSAS 18001)
  • Ideally will have experience of proactively dealing with regulatory bodies & agencies

The company offers a competitive salary. The working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday – Friday with some flexibility to meet the needs of the business.
