About The Role
Our Department Managers know how to work at pace and regardless of which department they work in they all have the same goal - to deliver great food to our customers. It's fast and ever-changing - are you up for the challenge? Reporting to the Site Technical Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day management and guidance of the technical team across all departments. Ensuring the team comply to Morrisons Manufacturing / site technical standards and procedures under the guidance of the Site Technical Manager. Other task will include:

  • Delivering food safety, legality, quality and integrity for all our customers and brands along with ensuring that all designated procedures and practices comply to legal, BRC and MMS requirements
  • Checking CCP‘s across departments and ensuring trained competent colleagues are controlling these
  • Support and advise colleagues on technical issues
  • Develop, implement and ensure compliance to Technical policies and procedures applicable to the site
  • Consistently and proactively manage site trends and risks
  • Playing an active role in achieving site accreditations where applicable
  • Ensuring compliance to raw material and finished product specification and develop site technical policies and team procedures under the guidance of the site Technical Manager
  • Manage site internal audit process and manage site process validations along with maintaining and managing site document control
  • Collate site information for reports weekly, monthly, yearly

About You
As well as tons of resilience you must have:

  • Experience of a Department Manager/Shift Manager or equivalent - ideally in food manufacturing
  • A degree in science, food technology, chemistry, microbiology, engineering, manufacturing
  • Knowledge of safety, legality, compliance and quality across supply chain and produce range
  • Previous experience/knowledge of high risk coupled with thermal processing knowledge/experience and strong analytical and decision making skills
  • The ability to coach and encourage your team and help them explore opportunities to continuously improve how they do their job
  • The ability to problem solve, and implement process changes in order to improve operational performance.
  • Experience of managing budgets and controlling costs
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills in order to engage motivate and develop large teams with varying skill sets.
