We are seeking a talented and ambitious individual to work for a small but rapidly growing overseas manufacturer of high quality, prepared food products, mostly supplying to a high-end retailer in the UK.
About the Supply Chain & Operations Manager job
Due to the increasing volume and complexity of the business, they now need an experienced logistics and supply chain professional to manage key relationships with partners in sea freight, storage, haulage, pick and pack, and distribution. You will also be responsible for delivering continuous improvement throughout our supply chain.
Based in London, the Supply Chain & Operations Manager will also need to spend time on a weekly basis at the pick and pack partners in South Lincolnshire where you will manage a small operations team.
You will identify cost savings and streamline operations; using your knowledge to negotiate or find creative solutions to issues plus create a long-term plan with the pick and pack partners – particularly for peak trading periods.
Working in conjunction with the commercial team, you will help plan the operation in line with the short, medium, and long term needs of the business.
This is a newly created, full-time role which will require creative thinking to explore alternative and innovative ways to supply our products that will bring sustainable efficiencies, driving cost out of the business.
Skills & experience required for the Supply Chain & Operations Manager job
The successful candidate will have a background in supply chain, logistics and shipping or similar in the food industry. You will have an in-depth understanding of importing food and the supply chain challenges associated with this gained in a similar environment.
- Demonstrate the commercial acumen to identify improvement opportunities.
- Have the tenacity to make the changes needed.
- Be a problem solver, a quick thinker, and very organised.
- Be IT literate (Excel) with strong analytical skills.
- Have solid management experience.
The Supply Chain & Operations Manager job is based in London with regular travel required to the packing operation in Lincolnshire.
The role is paying c. £50,000 according to your experience, plus a holiday allowance of 25 days per annum.
The working hours are Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week.
