Our client, a dual-site, well-established food business is looking for a Technical Manager for their sites based in Gloucestershire.  The successful candidate will manage a small team across both sites and be responsible for ensuring all food safety, quality, technical, legal and customer requirements are met in full.


Reporting to the General Manager, responsibilities for the role will include:

  • Advising the business on all aspects of food safety, legality and quality Interpreting and managing requirements of BRC quality standards and Food Safety Co-ordinating all customer audits & visits ensuring actions raised are completed in a timely manner and there are no re occurrence of non-conformities Ensuring a comprehensive HACCP system is implemented, monitored, and reviewed to ensure product safety is maintained Ensuring that the Company Quality Manual is a comprehensive guide to the Company’s Quality Systems Monitoring and ensuring up to date procedures in respect of traceability, calibration, testing, production controls and other quality systems Maintaining up to date QC records and controlling all documentation Identifying any non-conformances through regular formal and informal quality and hygiene audits and ensuring that corrective action is taken and documented Maintaining updated raw materials/packaging specifications and conducting audits of suppliers as required Maintaining and updating customer specifications for all products Supporting the Sales team by assisting the planning and co-ordination of new product development Arranging for new employees to be trained in basic hygiene, safety and the importance of quality procedures and providing further staff training on quality procedures including food safety Co-ordinating outside contractors such as Laundry, Pest Control, Waste & Chemical suppliers



Essential / Desirable skills include:

  • Previous experience in a Technical / Quality Management role within the Food Industry Ideally Level 4 Food Safety and HACCP level 3 (minimum) Train the trainer or equivalent Ability to develop colleague, customer and supplier relationships Good knowledge of health and safety ideally with relevant qualification An enthusiasm to continuously improve the product quality, through analysis and investigation

  • Well established, dual site Food Business Their heritage drives them, but they are still looking forward with a high focus on sustainability, protecting the environment and safeguarding the products of the earth Wide range of products, with customers ranging from large multi-national companies to independent manufacturers



The working hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday with flexibility to meet the needs of the business.  The salary for the role is up to £55,000 per annum dependant on experience.  A driving licence and use of own vehicle is essential due to the location of the sites and it will be necessary to travel between them.
