Are you a Technical/Quality Manager who has proven experience in maintaining BRC AA and external audit standards?

Our client, a successful FMCG manufacturer who continues to produce high-quality products for a range of customers, we have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Manager to join their Management team.
The Technical Manager will ensure that product produced is made to the correct quality, is legal and meets any specific customer or business standards. Working closely with other departments to always continuously and proactively improve all areas of the business. Most of your time in the factory and work in a flat structure, where possible.
The role:
Manage the QA Team Leader to ensure all required activities are carried out effectively and timely.
Audit the activities of the QA function and recommend changes and training/development to improve the effectiveness of the team.
Develop line standards and criteria for product acceptability and assist in operator training to ensure all product produced is an acceptable standard.
Ensure all production activities meet current Food Safety and Trading Standards Legislation, liaising as necessary with the EHO.
Manage the investigation, recording, analysis and feedback of all customer complaints, non-conformances, incidents and recalls.
Audit the effectiveness of the hygiene team via a hygiene & allergen swabbing programme.
Ensure product and WIP is sent for microbiological analysis and manage any required actions.
Ensure all quality control records are maintained to BRC standards.
Proactively seek to improve product quality, product specification and customer satisfaction
Undertake audits to ensure compliance with BRC and required Customer Standards, produce reports to highlight non-conformance to relevant managers.
Ensure that the site is unannounced audit-ready on a daily basis.
Carry out gap analysis against accreditation & customer codes of practice to action/close out the gaps
The candidate:
Previous experience in managing a Technical / QA department
Qualified to degree level in food-related discipline or relevant experience
Knowledge and practical experience of quality systems (e.g HACCP)
Positive mentality and strong desire to develop and coach team performance
A proactive approach to change, problem-solving & root cause analysis
Flexibility to cover off the demands of the business
Proven leadership skills, and will lead by example, demonstrating high standards of behaviour, honesty and integrity
Ability to manage and prioritise tasks and time efficiently
