About the Compliance Officer job
As an integral role within a small team, this role will report to the Commercial Manager and will lead compliance duties within the business.
Key tasks:
- Control external compliance with respect to related certification bodies and assurance schemes (UFAS, FEMAS, Organic Farmers and Growers, ISO Standards, Trading Standards). Coordinate and managing external audits from above schemes and ensuring continuation of accreditations. Responsible for maintaining and developing internal procedures, work instructions and SHE standards. Carry out internal audits of the office and storage facility to evaluate compliance with internal procedures. Present findings to the UK Senior Management team and following up on action points. Ensure training requirements are completed, recorded and are adequate to meet staff requirements. Work closely with external consultants to future proof business compliance. Lead the development and progress of Modern Slavery and Sustainability initiatives.
Skills & experience required for the Compliance Officer job
- Strong quality, food safety or technical compliance track record within food production or agriculture. Excellent quality assurance knowledge and a clear understanding of ISO standards. Excellent communication skills required for managing relationships with external bodies. Able to interpret data and apply critical thinking to decision making, whilst seeing the bigger picture. Ability to engage with all levels and functions across the business.

The Compliance Officer job is based in North Somerset and is paying c. 40,000 pro rata according to your experience.
The package includes 4% employer pension, 25 days holiday pro-rata and private healthcare after 6-month probation.
The working hours are 3/4 days a week, with flexible hours and days to suit you. Hybrid working is also on offer, with 1 day a week in the office.
