Job Details

Our client, a rapidly growing Chilled and Frozen Food Manufacturer is looking for a Junior Development Technologist to join its team in Norfolk. The successful candidate will be working closely with the Senior Technologist to support the Head of Development in co-ordinating the new product ideas (NPD) and existing product (EPD) projects to the highest quality, whilst adhering to both internal and external requirements. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and experience in Product Development with support and training available.

Reporting to the NPD Manager, responsibilities for the role will include:
•    Translating consumer insight, taking relevant food trends and listening to customer and consumer feedback to assist in developing NPD and EPD
•    Daily management of all projects to ensure timely delivery and smooth launches
•    Communicating with internal technical, commercial and operations team, and external retailers and suppliers
•    Preparation of internal and external samples, ensuring they are produced to the expected standard
•    Accurately inputting all required product information in written customer documentation 
•    Supporting the factory scale up stage of new developments in line with site procedures and legal requirements
•    Ensuring the factory trials are successful and next steps are followed up efficiently
•    Managing the information required for artwork generation and due diligence in line with legal practices such as nutritional testing, shelf life, organoleptic testing, travel test, artwork sign off, and factory paperwork
•    Taking ownership for all aspects of the product ensuring all relevant records and documentation are accurate and accessible
•    Managing the implementation of new packaging materials and processes
•    Assisting with the benchmarking programme including competitor shopping, co-ordination of panels and collating results both internally and externally
•    Attending customer presentations as required
•    Playing an active role in customer visits / pre-production / launches where appropriate

Essential / Desirable skills include: 
•    Ideally educated to degree or HND level in a food related discipline
•    Experience working in a food manufacturing environment in an NPD role would be beneficial 
•    IT literate - able to work confidently with email, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
•    Initiative-taker - with the drive and tenacity to keep pushing several projects through the business at any one time and the confidence and vision to overcome obstacles along the way
•    Innovation - with a desire to create something new with commercial viability
•    Team player - supporting and developing other people to achieve their goals
•    Keen problem-solving skills
•    A passion for food
•    Self-motivated with good time keeping & flexibility to see the task through

The working hours are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5pm; there may be some flexibility for hybrid working dependent on the candidate and business requirements. The salary for the role is circa £27k per annum.
