Head of Engineering, Food, Worcestershire

Excellent opportunity for a Head of Engineering to join a well-established Food Manufacturing business in West Midlands!


Reporting into the Operations Director, the Head of Engineering will be accountable for the engineering strategy, playing a pivotal part in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the factory.


As Head of Engineering, you will have direct accountability for engineering in its entirety, including maintenance, site services, projects (Continuous Improvement and CAPEX), and the engineering budget.


Your task will be to lead the engineering function for the business, to ensure manufacturing/production equipment and associated site infrastructure is maintained to the highest possible standard, and the engineering team are working to the safest and best possible practices and procedures.


Leading a team of 50 strong you will need to an influential leader, offering coaching, training, and mentorship where required, spending time with your team, putting development and progression plans in place.


Working collaboratively with all departments and third-party suppliers, you'll need to be an effective communicator with a real gravitas, able to present results and improvement ideas to board level.


To be considered for this role you will have been in a senior engineering role within food manufacturing before and have a thorough understanding of factory operations, you will need to be financially astute with experience of managing multi-million-pound budgets.


You will have extensive knowledge and experience of operation of production equipment and a good awareness of the practical implications of all relevant statutory legislation (e.g., PUWER, EAW, Supply of Machinery Regs, Functional Safety, Pressure regs, gas regs, CDM etc).
