Key Purpose: To provide on shift leadership and supervision for the Shift Technician team, provide an effective link between the Operations and Engineering Support Teams offering a high level of technical support and providing technical feedback for all engineering related activities.
  • Reports to: Maintenance Manager
  • Shift: 24/7 Shift Based
  • Salary: Level 5

    Key Accountabilities
    Production Support
  • Provide all Shift Technicians with strong leadership and supervision and utilise personal skills to form part of the overall shift team.
  • Working closely with the Shift FLM & Maintenance Manager, create a strong working relationship with Operations Team
  • Provide technical information and lead effective closure of engineering related issues to deliver shift priorities and KPI's.
  • Ensure cross shift communication including handovers, reactive issues, work order completion (planned & preventative) and any related follow up requirements.
  • Lead effective use of the root cause analysis techniques, owning the closure of major breakdowns and the change management process for related design-outs.
  • Support contractor activity & electrical/mechanical maintenance activities on shift, using permit to work system.

    Engineering Best Practice
  • Facilitate daily and weekly engineering meetings, outlining major activities on shift (reactive, planned & preventative) and feedback of engineering KPI's.
  • Form strong working relationship with Maintenance Manager, Reliability Manager, Maintenance Planner, Stores Personnel, Area Specialists and take ownership of any related improvement outputs from Maintenance audits.
  • Ambassador for engineering standards and best practice across site.

  • Ability to supervise, coordinate and manage personnel.
  • Good influencing, presentation, communication and decision making skills.
  • Effective team member.

    Technical - Mechanical & Electrical
  • Time served Engineer with a Minimum HNC/HND in a relevant Mechanical/Electrical discipline.
  • Demonstrate strong problem solving skills.
  • Computer literate & software familiarity (word, excel).
  • Demonstrate relevant CMMS knowledge.

    Desirable
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  • 18th Edition qualified.
  • 2395 Inspection & Testing qualified.
  • Good knowledge or an ability to quickly learn PLC controls systems to include programming, maintenance and fault finding. (Ideally experience with Allen Bradley PLC's).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities & comfort in matrixed organization
  • Competency in Excel, PowerPoint and Project Mgmt software
  • Understanding of any of the existing R&D Specification Management systems would be highly desirable
