Regulatory and Compliance Technologist

The Company

This well-established organisation works directly with the UK food and drink industry, relaying food industry expertise to members in order to help them grow, protect and strengthen their business. They work with a huge range of companies, from global brands to sole-traders, providing advice on trade policy, export, food safety and innovation to name a few. They are now looking for a highly analytical Senior Regulatory and Compliance Technologist to join their regulatory and science team.

The Role

This varied role will give you an opportunity to develop a broad knowledge across food policies, helping to support a number of teams and be responsible for: 

•        Monitoring and analysis of relevant scientific, technical and regulatory developments across the UK and EU

•        Providing written summaries of regulatory changes and verbal updates to companies, colleagues and sector trade bodies

•        Conducting member consultations and formulating policy positions, including in response to public meetings

•        Assisting with the external representation of the companies policies, including to government officials

•        Supporting and leading on individual policy areas and projects

The Person

This role would suit a food science graduate or another similar discipline who has the relevant experience in industry, regulatory authority, trade association or similar organisation. You’ll have a good knowledge of UK and EU food law, particularly in relation to food microbiology and food safety.

A keen eye for detail will be critical in producing accurate written summaries of technical and regulatory information, allowing you to work across a variety of different policy areas and managing multiple deadlines. Experience of scientific or regulatory policy development is desirable, however full training will be given in order for you to expand your skills and knowledge.

You will be methodical and analytical in your approach and be a team player with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong organisational skills is a must, with admin experience helpful to assist in meetings and administrative tasks.
