Job Details

Our client, an innovative Food Manufacturer based in West Sussex, is looking for a Senior Customer Technical Manager. The successful candidate will provide technical support and expert guidance to assigned customers. Key responsibilities will include day to day management and point of contact for the customer technical representatives, including analysing technical or product related queries from customers and colleagues, coordinating customer projects, monitoring trends and using these to drive product quality performance improvements. 

Reporting to the Head of Technical, key responsibilities are as follows:
•    Full Technical Lead and responsibility for the assigned customers to ensure all customer requirements, due diligence, technical NPD support as required, finished product quality, legality and food safety are always met. Supporting and guiding the Factory Technical Manager through the customer audit process
•    Working with the site management team and main technical team to identify, develop and implement technical and operational improvements to products, practices, standards and equipment
•    Providing data analysis and category management. Constructing and delivering KPI reports and analysis, customer quality improvement plans and undertaking the management of results and trends to instigate required investigations to support the resolution of out of spec results
•    Managing customer technical visits to sites as necessary. Actioning any visit or audit non-conformances within the appropriate timescales, communicating with relevant departments
•    Assisting in the delivery of safe and legal products to our customers by providing updates, as required to the site teams on changes in customer COP’s or standards 
•    Contributing to the category sourcing/ procurement plans to meet the needs of the site or customer requirements
•    Participating as a member of project teams providing advice and technical input to ensure decisions reflect the requirements of the assigned customers’ codes of practice and standards
•    Leading, motivating and inspiring direct reports in line with Company Values to achieve personal development and continuous improvement


Essential / Desirable skills include:
•    Food Industry experience in a customer-focussed Quality or Technical role with the Major UK Retailers 
•    Knowledge of retailer codes of practice, requirements & systems
•    Proficient in the use of MS Office applications, emails and the internet 
•    Commercial awareness 
•    Strong interpersonal and relationship building ability 
•    Ideally educated to Degree level in a food related discipline 
•    Food manufacturing, BRC, HACCP, specification platforms, microbiology analysis
•    Ideally Food Safety Level 3, HACCP Level 3 and Internal Auditor trained
•    Driving licence

This role offers a competitive salary plus benefits and working hours are Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week between 7am and 5pm, with phone cover on a rota basis  at weekends.
