NPD Technologist

With an ever-expanding range of exciting products, they are now seeking an NPD Technologist to aid them in their quest for continued excellence. This role is hybrid working with 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely.

The Role

Reporting to the NPD Manager you will take the lead in long term innovation projects. This will include supporting key elements, from ingredient research through to factory production on complex new products. There will be a specific focus on working with external partners to discover and develop new ingredients, or products, which create product innovation opportunities for the brand worldwide. In order to accomplish this you will continually look to assess new ideas and concepts, being sure to communicate their feasibility and commercial potential.

You will be involved with specific strategic roadmap initiatives by proactively researching and testing new concepts in order to support the potential product development pipeline. Coordinating product testing in collaboration with other technical functions you will work effectively in a lab setting in order to gain valuable product insight from sensory and shelf life testing.  Along with this you strive to become a technical expert in terms of new ingredients that will help to further product success and accomplish positive consumer outcomes.

You will assist on projects that will see you interact cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and technical teams to ensure all concepts meet correct quality and ethical standards. Liaising with the marketing teams you’ll take a lead on presentations and coordinating new development briefs, ensuring they are clear, concise, and most importantly hit the brief.

The Person

We are looking for a creative and ambitious technologist who is degree educated within a Science / Food Science discipline and has gained NPD or R&D experience within a food or drink manufacturing environment. You’ll have worked in an innovations led role where you have experience of understanding and translating new trends as well as new ingredients, their application and their potential in new products.  You will be able to scope projects for new to market concepts, taking into account commercial, quality and compliance parameters.

Curious by nature and ready to challenge convention you will be a confident communicator with the ability to liaise dynamically with multiple teams. You will be engaging and self-motivated, always looking for new avenues to improve. You will inspire with your ingredients knowledge and be able to link your NPD and technical know-how to develop first to market products for global markets.
