Job Details

Our client, a family business with sites throughout the North West, is looking for a Technical Assistant for their site in Lancashire. The successful candidate will support the technical function to drive the standards within the Technical & Manufacturing departments by ensuring the relevant documentation is in place to monitor the quality of the products manufactured. This will include collating data and sharing information to drive standards forward to help achieve BRC food accreditation.

 

 

 

Reporting to the Head of Technical responsibilities for the role will include:

  • Helping the sites with the implementation of the QAS, including photography, plus new specifications at each of the sites Working closely with NPD to develop assembly manuals for new products Implementing new raw material good intake specifications for the new products being launched Organising and delivering the training of the sensory testing of the staff at each site Contributing to the taste panels at sites Helping design and implement the technical hub, which will hold all the group’s technical documents Assisting in the implementation of the BRC standards with the manufacturing departments, by: Auditing the departments Driving standards within the departments (procedures/GMP) Implementation of new procedures within departments Recording and trending data

Collating individual site procedures with retail customer’s procedures and developing them into a company procedure Assisting with document control of processes and new documents Supporting the Quality & Technical Team on various projects within the department  

 

Essential / Desirable skills include:

  • Experience in a Food Manufacturing environment in a Technical / Quality role Understanding of Quality Management Systems and a knowledge of food safety standards (e.g. BRC / SALSA) and legislation Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail Good IT skills, including word-processing and spreadsheets Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines Good numeracy skills Problem solving Driving licence and car essential as will need to travel between sites in the North West

The working hours are 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, typically 8am – 4.30pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the business. The salary for the role is competitive.
