Production Planner

Just Food Recruitment are recruiting for a Production Planner to join a large food manufacturer based in Barnsley to report directly to the Senior Planner/ Planning Manager.

This role predominantly involves the efficient planning of production, in both Low Risk and High Risk. Control of further processed and boxed stock, whilst ensuring that technical restrictions are adhered to.

Key activities include:

• Communication with Sales, Technical and production to ensure that throughput is in accordance with the plan and in compliance with customer specifications.
• Liaise with Production Managers when generating production plans to ensure resources available.
• Monitor and control stocks and challenge variances.
• Validate and challenge incoming sales orders in comparison to forecast and expectations.
• Liaise with production to ensure a fast response to amendments to plan.
• Ensure awareness of new products, changes to specification, promotions and delists re their impact on Production.
• Provide holiday cover as and when required within the Planning Department.
• Implement and further develop systems.
• Complete other duties as and when required ensuring that the Company meets its objectives.
• Carry out training commensurate with the area including regular refresher/update training as and when required
• To maintain high levels of work performance including attendance, timekeeping etc
• To assist in other departments as and when required.
• Undertake any training that may be required or desirable
• To contribute and participate in projects that may be outside your usual remit as requested and agreed by Management/Site Director
• Undertake training on all aspects of the planning functions

Person Specification:

The successful candidate must be computer literate and numerate, have a sound analytical technique, and be able to prioritise, manage deadlines, make decisions, and have a conscientious accuracy and eye for detail.  The ideal candidate must be highly organised, the ability to maintain records, be assertive, confident and flexible.

Daily working hours are 8am till 4pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week), working on a 1 in 4 rota Saturday/Sunday with other members of the Department, however in this position flexibility around these core hours is essential as to meet the needs of the business.
