Job Details
Our client, a well-established chilled-food manufacturer based in the South of England, is looking for a Head of Technical. The successful candidate will be the Technical lead on site, developing strong relationships with customers and 3rd parties. Ensuring Food safety legislation, customer and third-party requirements are met across the site.
Responsibilities for the role will include:
• Regularly reviewing Quality Management Systems, ensuring Allergen, HACCP and TACCP plans are in place
• Driving continuous improvement across the site through a Quality Assurance led approach
• Preparing an annual budget for Technical, minimising costs where possible
• Conducting audits to ensure hygiene standards are maintained
• Leading microbiological testing plans, monitoring results and trends
• Investigating and resolving any quality and food safety non-conformances developing complaint reduction plans
• Developing an audit programme to identify any potential H&S issues
Essential / Desirable skills include:
• Experience in a Technical leadership role within chilled food production
• Ideally educated to degree level in a Food Science or related discipline
• Proven experience of HACCP, BRC and Major Retailer requirements and audit standards
• Excellent knowledge of Technical / Quality Systems
• Experience managing relationships with Major Retailer Technical Teams and suppliers at a senior level
• Commercial acumen, experience managing a Technical budget
• Experience leading and developing a Technical Team
• Good IT skills including MS Office
• Strong communicator both written and verbal
• Driving licence essential

This role offers a competitive salary plus benefits and working hours are Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, office hours with some flexibility to meet the needs of the business.
