Production Manager

3 shift rotation (06:00-14:00/14:00-22:00/22:00-06:00) on a weekly rotation

As a Production Manager, you will lead a Manufacturing Team to deliver a range of operational Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and objectives aligned to business needs by:

• Participation in the development and execution of the site’s continuous improvement vision and strategy
• Actively facilitating the delivery of a bottom-up team development improvement process
• Delivery of Operational and Engineering performance to enable the factory to control its cost base with variable plant utilisation

Working in a highly competitive, fast-paced market and located at 'Site' reporting to the Operations Manager, the role holder will be a key member of the Site Operational Team and Production Management Team.

As Production Manager, some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring the Manufacturing area is a safe, efficient and quality focused operation that satisfies all stakeholder expectations and requirements
• As part of a Production Management Team, takes responsibility for day to day operational performance and ensures any issues are dealt with in the first instance and communicated to relevant Functional Managers
• Ensuring a continual drive to jointly deliver, with relevant functions; a Site plan to prevent re-occurrence of any issues
• Takes responsibility for coaching and developing their teams through effective performance management and promotes a culture in which lean manufacturing, both structurally and culturally is effective and sustainable
• Encourages a culture where leadership and working in partnership to drive operational performance are demonstrated through adopting coaching and supportive behaviours

A little bit about the site:

• Size: Employs around 500 people, is 54,000m² and operates 24/5
• History: First opened in 1948 as a crisp factory for Meredith & Drew. Started extrusion and pellet frying in 1970. Hula Hoops moved to Ashby in 1995 and in November 2020, popchips production moved to Ashby
• Products: As well as Hula Hoops, a range of other pellet and extruded snacks including Skips, Space Raiders and Nik Naks
• Key stats:Produces 110 tonnes of finished products every day on 10 production lines including 3 million packs of Hula Hoops and 1 million packs of Skips!

Key knowledge, skills, and experience

• Masters/Bachelors’ degree or equivalent work experience in manufacturing, production processes, business, or another related field
• Food manufacturing experience in particularly own/private label would be desirable
• You will need to have hands on knowledge and experience within a manufacturing/FMCG environment, ideally in the food industry, using knowledge to make good robust decisions to resolve issues quickly
• Experience in managing large numbers of people in a complex manufacturing environment
