Overseeing production at site in Exeter our client is searching for an exceptional Production Manager who has a real passion for the food industry. 

In the role you will need to ensure production schedules run to time and to maximum efficiency. Liaising closely with other departments to ensure good communication and
shared ideas. Staff management, responsibility for ensuring Health & Safety and Food Safety standards in production and working closely with the Site Manager on overall operational success of the site, acting as their number two and taking an active role in site development and management are the key areas for this position

Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be need to have experience in the key areas below:
•    Line manager for production supervisors; responsible for ensuring daily tasks are completed to standard
•    Practical management of production activities – troubleshooting, assisting in production as required, strong presence on the factory floor
•    Maintaining stock rotation of raw materials in factory storage areas
•    Monitoring usage of raw materials to ensure adequate stock to complete production schedule (dairy, egg yolk, lids etc)
•    Working closely with operations, purchasing & warehouse on all day-to-day issues and activities and to ensure warehouse & factory are working together in terms of staffing and delivering production schedules
•    Point of contact on the factory floor for Operations & Planning for amendments to schedule or process issues on floor
•    Full understanding of the production schedule; regular review and revision of forward plans as required; ad hoc schedule updates as required – potential role development into working from planning lists to compile forward production plans based on production efficiency and order requirements; working with the management team to review and revise site planning process
•    Working closely with Operations on issue resolution to maintain traceability
•    Chair weekly Supervisor meeting to discuss current schedules and any other issues; follow up issues raised
•    Responsibility to investigate and follow up any yield discrepancies on daily reports
•    Responsibility for ensuring new equipment set up is completed including issue of work instructions, review of risk assessments, staff training in liaison with relevant departments (maintenance, ops/HS etc)
•    Reviewing process & efficiencies; setting & monitoring KPI’s (waste, yields, labour etc.). Play an active role in continuous improvement across the factory including process, machinery,
•    products, raw materials etc
•    External audit preparation; working with Technical and the Supervisors in ensuring that production is prepped for any audits and assisting with delivery on the day of an audit
o    Supporting Supervisors in dealing with production staff issues – process, schedule etc
o    Supporting Supervisors in dealing with personnel welfare issues and escalating to HR as required
o    Capability & disciplinary issues; close liaison with Supervisors on staff issues; supporting
•    Supervisors on performance improvement or standard management issues; escalating to HR as appropriate for formal process including holding investigation meetings with HR support
o    BrightHR Management – ensuring sickness & absence is logged. Managing holiday approvals for production staff & direct reports including central calendar updates; ensuring holiday approvals are balanced with factory staffing needs
o    Staff Rota – update & issue
o    Responsible for ensuring logging and tracking of additional staff hours is completed; overtime, agency staff hours, casual staff hours ensuring authorised monthly for payroll
•    Staff training & development; creating & updating training manuals, monitoring & documenting staff training requirements including renewals/refreshers and organising in house support and training where appropriate (working closely with Supervisors, Technical and HR); identifying external/third party training requirements as appropriate; identifying and monitoring staff development opportunities within the production team
•    Annual production staff reviews; holding annual staff reviews, completing relevant documentation, and following up on any actions
