Technical Systems Manager

Our client, a leading international food processor, is looking to appoint a Technical Systems Manager for their site based in Cornwall. The successful candidate will lead the Technical Systems function on site to ensure quality and food safety focus is given, providing support to the wider Technical team and other departments as necessary.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, responsibilities will include:

• Accountability for successful implementation of customer and other external agency standards including BRC
• The day to day running of the Quality function on site
• Conducting gap analysis on new standards and generating implementation plans
• Responsibility for the successful upkeep of customer portals
• Completion of traceability exercises to the required standards
• Maintaining the relevant sections of technical department budget
• Accountable for the Internal Audit schedule, ensuring all audits are completed on time and to a satisfactory standard
• Ensuring successful export of product direct from the site
• Completing all customer and internal finished product specifications
• Managing all raw material specifications
• Responsible and Accountable for supplier approval
• Responsible for validation exercises on all factory CCP’s
• Responsible for site HACCP, TACCP and VACCP including being the site lead
• Liaising with customers on all compliance related matters
• Leading external audits
• Implementation and further development of systems
• Designing and leading new processes to streamline and improve the compliance function,
• Preparation of external audits, driving an ‘audit ready’ culture within the factory

Essential / Desirable skills include:

• Experience in a Technical function
• Experienced in working within a food manufacturing industry
• Holding or working towards Level 3 Food Safety
• Holding or working towards level 3 HACCP
• Ideal candidate will have a degree in a food or manufacturing related science and experience within a High Risk or High Care environment
• Organised and able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
• Strong IT Skills
• Experience in external audits

The role will be site based working Monday to Friday, with flexibility to meet the needs of the business. The role commands a salary of up to £38k per annum
