Craft Engineer

Flexi 12 hour shifts

 

As a Craft Engineer, you will provide full technical engineering support to the Teesside site as required.  The role requires you to be multi-skilled (with an electrical bias) and possess the flexibility to work site-specific shift patterns (you'll need to be flexible in terms of the shift patterns in order to cover day and night shifts).

 

You will have responsibility for:

  • Electrical (wiring, testing, fault finding, programming, installation, modifications, etc)
  • Mechanical (bearings, gearboxes, motors, shafts, drives, seals, etc)
  • Bench fitting (drilling, grinding, use of bench tools, turning, etc)
  • Completing all paperwork as appropriate

 

Aligned to our IWS principles and to embed the IWS ways of working you will be asked to:

  • Drive improvements on equipment
  • Adhere to safety and quality standards and take personal responsibility for health and safety to achieve zero losses and safety incidents
  • Effectively manage start-ups, shutdowns and changeovers
  • Drive waste and losses to zero
  • Manage utilities (water) and energy (gas/electric) to achieve optimum efficiency by using MESDAS technology
  • Maintain high standards of Hygiene and Housekeeping following our clean as you go policy
  • Find and fix issues and defects using your engineering skills
  • Using FMES (our IT system) analyse data to identify and make improvements in the plant

Job requirements

As well as demonstrating KP’s core values and behaviours you will:

  • Ensure key information is effectively communicated to the next Engineering shift
  • Have the ability to work both individually and as part of a team
  • Be a team player who is proactive, enthusiastic, approachable and flexible in your daily tasks
  • Be able to communicate with all members of staff, continuously seek improvement, take ownership and responsibility
  • Have the ability to use your own initiative and prioritise workload
  • Be keen to learn and develop your skills
  • Ideally have GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English and have experience working in a food process manufacturing environment
  • Be time served ideally in electrically biased engineering and we ask that you have HNC level qualification (or equivalent) as a minimum
  • Have experience of generic engineering equipment hydraulics, pneumatics, Siemen’s PLCs, electrical components
  • Have the ability to clearly understand engineering drawings, symbols and notation and demonstrate a sound technical understanding of key production plant in both process and wrapping areas
  • Have basic PC skills and ideally Food Safety & Health and Safety Levels 2
