As our Quality Assurance Technologist, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring our great tasting crisps and snacks continue to be produced to the highest quality standards and that consumers can continue to enjoy their happy snacking moments wherever they are!

 

Reporting to the Quality Manager, you'll have a direct responsibility for food safety and quality assurance activities at the Ashby Site. As a key member of the Technical team, you will be working closely with the Quality Manager, Technical team and key personnel from other departments. The Quality Technologist will support day to day management of the quality function for the site, be responsible for driving food safety and quality standards. The role is operationally focused and he/she will be expected to spend a significant proportion of time in a manufacturing environment.

 

As Quality Assurance Technologist, some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Drive food safety and influence good quality standards within the factory
  • Management and support of the site’s Quality Management System
  • Lead the site Internal Audit team and system to meet BRC, AIB and customer standards, ensuring compliance to the audit schedule, effective close out of non conformances and training and support to the cross-functional team
  • Support allergen management within the factory
  • Support complaint management, investigation & trending to influence a site wide focus
  • Lead management & control of all technical documentation
  • Assist the launch of new products, ensuring that products are compliant with HACCP and specifications
  • Support the HACCP system and be an active member of the team
  • Work effectively within the broader site teams during customer or 3rd party visits or audits whilst supporting the Technical department
  • Management of all the site sensory activities, including end of life and benchmark reviews of online evaluation and daily offline evaluation
  • Manage administration of the site CIM and IPS process
  • Manage Intelex administration, Q Alerts, Document control etc.
  • Routine technical related activities and testing
  • Use of site or company systems e.g. Intelex, BUDDY, Agile, JD Edwards etc.
  • Other projects as required by the site or company
  • Support & engage in IWS activities
  • Active member of the Q Pillar and adopt coaching and WPO role
  • Lead the site VNC investigation process & communicate with suppliers as required
  • Support the on-going development of the QA Apprentice
  • Management of acrylamide monitoring system

Key knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Strong communication, influencing and coaching skills
  • Operational and hands-on approach – role requires time in a factory environment
  • Confident and assured. Comfortable in conflict management and solution driven
  • Use resources effectively to maintain standards & knows when to prioritise
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and good manufacturing practices
  • Understanding of QMS, HACCP & Internal Audit systems
  • Good communication, PC skills & data interpretation
  • Team engagement across site disciplines
  • Experience of external audits e.g. BRC
  • Factory Technical/Quality Technologist experience
