Calling all Interim Technical Managers, if you are available by the end of August 2022 please get in touch to discuss this excellent opportunity with a chilled food manufacturing business based in Surrey.



My client is a private label manufacturer of high-quality chilled products, they have a purpose built BRC Accredited AA site based in Surrey.



With only 30 employees in the business, they need a hands-on Interim Technical Manager to support the business for an initial three-month contract whilst the business starts recruiting for a permanent Technical Manager.



You will have two direct reports a QA Technician and a Process / Specifications Technologist.



The current incumbent leaves at the end of August so you must be available to start in the next couple of weeks.



Main Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:
  • Ownership of the Quality Policy - Implement the QMS across the business in line with required regulatory, customer and legal standards
  • Manage and lead the HACCP and pre-requisite system for the business
  • Uphold and continually improve the documented GMP and hygiene standards across the site. Ensure personal hygiene, cleaning regimes, pest control and micro levels are always all within the required parameters
  • Manage the technical specifications, information systems, analytical procedures, 3rd party software, and internal management KPI reporting, including complaints and both internal & GMP audits
  • Promote quality awareness and quality standards across all levels of the business, with taste panels being a key point of assessment and review
  • Manage the day-to-day food safety and quality issues along with identifying potential future risks to compliance, supported by thorough investigation and root cause analysis, in conjunction with department managers, implement changes to eliminate them
  • Deliver a supplier management system ensuring all ingredients used are approved, traceable, and of the correct agreed specification
  • Deliver an ongoing system for all NPD to move from the Development bench to launch with agreed cooking procedures, customer quality standards, ingredient standards, and approval and factory process requirements
  • Manage technical development projects e.g., capability improvements, product life extensions etc.
  • Ensure the site is always audit ready, in line with the required maintenance of BRC 8 Certification. The site is currently AA Rated



  • Person Spec
    • You will ideally have a degree in Food Science and several years experience in a Technical Management role within chilled food manufacturing
    • HACCP Grade 4 Qualification
