About the Multi-Skilled Engineer job
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the purpose of your role will be to assist in in all engineering activities - liaising with the internal departments to carry out installation, testing, operation, maintenance and repair of all facilities and equipment.
Key tasks:
- Maintain all site electrical/mechanical equipment in relation to machinery, buildings, support services and utilities to the required legislative standards, safety, and business requirements.
- Reactive maintenance to plant breakdowns and ancillary equipment, limiting production downtime to a minimum.
- Proactive machine maintenance in accordance with the PPM schedule.
- Identify areas of improvement and liaise with the engineering team to implement them.
- Occasional installation requirements, though the job will be predominantly orientated towards maintaining machinery uptime.
- Ensure planned maintenance tasks are carried out in line with the plan, safely, cost-effectively and to agreed standards and timescales, without compromising food safety or health & safety requirements.
Skills & experience required for the Multi-Skilled Engineer job
There are several vacancies available, and the roles would suit either electrical or mechanical biased Engineers.
- Time served Engineer in a production, manufacturing or FMCG environment - most ideally food manufacturing.
- Qualified in electrical/mechanical engineering or equivalent industrial experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot and fault find.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
- Knowledge of Food Safety, Food Hygiene, HACCP standards etc. would be a great benefit.

The Multi-Skilled Engineer job is based in Greater Manchester and is paying up to £40,000 according to your experience.
The package includes pension, employee assistance programme, eyecare vouchers for screen users, seasonal flu vouchers, and onsite parking.
The working hours are rotating weekly shifts of early, late, and night shifts.
- Week 1 - Monday to Friday, 6 am – 2 pm
- Week 2 - Monday to Friday, 2 pm - 10 pm
- Week 3 - Sunday to Thursday, 10 pm - 6 am
Overtime is also available - paid at 1.5x on Saturdays and 2x on Sundays.
