Group Environment and Sustainability Manager

This is a key position within the Compliance Team based at group level, covering three manufacturing sites and head office. In this role you will be responsible for managing and overseeing environment and sustainability issues for all sites. You will also be expected to lead the development and operation of the environmental management systems including setting standards and to lead on the formulation of sustainability strategies and policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure Compliance with EA Permits and associated Improvement Conditions.
• Monitor internal procedures to ensure compliance with required permit conditions.
• Manage and maintain relationships with Environment Agency across all sites.
• To promote current and develop new environmental & sustainability policies and standards as required.
• To ensure current sustainability commitments and targets are regularly assessed and updated in line with the business and customer expectations.
• To identify opportunities to improve consistency and integration of environmental & sustainability approaches across all sites.

Personal Profile.

• Excellent oral and written communication and influencing skills both internally and externally and working in partnership with suppliers, NGOs and industry bodies.
• Team worker, who is flexible, adaptable and takes a personal pride in their work
• Able to deal with difficult situations calmly
• Experience of working within Food Manufacturing or Consumer Products within an Environmental role.
• Experience of building and managing relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Experience of delivering training courses
• Membership of IEMA
• A post-graduate degree in a relevant discipline and / or relevant professional qualifications.
• Subject matter knowledge and expertise of environmental and social sustainability within retail and consumer goods industries.
