QA Manager (night shift)

Our client, a fast paced, high volume manufacturer of chilled foods for the major retailers, is looking for a Night QA Manager for their site based in North Wales. The successful candidate will be responsible for a small team of QA’s on the night shift, ensuring all products are manufactured safely and meet or exceed customer specifications.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, responsibilities for the role will include:
•    Training, managing, and motivating a team of Quality Assurance personnel who will audit the Quality Systems according to a defined schedule
•    Monitoring and verifying CCPs 
•    Ensuring that all Technical policies and procedures are adhered to within the manufacturing environment and reviewing compliance
•    Monitoring Technical Systems so that documentary evidence can be provided to support a “due diligence” defence in the event of a food safety or quality issue
•    Managing process deviations e.g. Raw Material Concessions & Right First Time / Incidents
•    Ensuring all agreed testing schedules are adhered to e.g. finished products, environment, taste panel
•    Supporting the site actively during Customer or Third Party Audits
•    Investigating customer complaints and trending and communicating these to customers as appropriate
•    Providing Technical liaison for contractors and service providers e.g. pest control 
•    Planning and maintaining the validation schedule
•    Managing the supplier non-conformance system to ensure raw materials meet specifications or are rejected

Essential / Desirable skills include:
•    Degree / HND in Food related discipline
•    Experience within a Quality Management or Supervisory role in Food Manufacturing, chilled product experience is essential 
•    Extensive knowledge of food safety legislation and good manufacturing practices
•    Experience of investigating potential microbiological issues and conducting cleaning methodology audits
•    Proven track record of team management
•    Strong communication, influencing and coaching skills
•    Knowledge and experience of HACCP, BRC and retail audit requirements
•    Food Hygiene and HACCP Level 3

The working hours are continental shifts (4 on, 4 off), Nights 6pm to 6am with a salary of £38k - £40k per annum plus an excellent benefits package.
