Factory Technical Quality Manager

The Company

This growing multi-site food business are expanding within the added value chilled food sector, developing new product categories as well as their customer base which includes the major retailers.   

They now need a talented addition to their Technical team, someone who thrives in a factory focussed role, managing a team and working closely with customers too. This role will involve some travel to sister sites and suppliers in the UK so a full UK driving licence is essential. 

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Technical, this career-defining role will see you taking responsibility for the food safety, quality and legality of all food products ensuring that they meet with the company’s stringent standards. This will include overseeing the factory quality team alongside supporting the implementation and maintenance of the Total Quality Management System across the site.

You’ll work closely with internal teams to ensure the smooth day to day running of the factory, guaranteeing non-conformances and food safety risks are resolved quickly, effectively and with integrity. You will need to keep up to date with legislative changes and uphold the highest levels of product quality, swiftly managing the resolution of any issues and implementing corrective actions where necessary.

Delivering an effective supplier management strategy you will manage the supplier base, resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with all regulations. This will include conducting supplier audits and managing performance, establishing and maintaining strong relationships across the board.

The Candidate

We are looking for an accomplished Factory Technical / Quality Manager educated to degree level in a Food Science or Agricultural based subject, with the decision-making ability and confidence to defend as well as manage the quality standards of this site.

Experience of working in a short shelf-life / high risk food manufacturing environment and an understanding of UK retailer standards is essential. 

This is a hands-on role in the factory so you must thrive in the energy and pace of this style of position, interacting with all departments as well as customers and suppliers. You’ll need experience of working with quality systems, implementing procedures and keeping product quality at the top of your agenda.

You’ll have previous stakeholder management experience with ability to influence and persuade, constructively dealing with conflicts whilst demonstrating excellent leadership and communication skills.

You must also have HACCP Level 4, Food Hygiene, and Food Safety Level 4, as well as internal/third party auditing qualifications and managing BRC audits with customers.
