Your Role:

As Senior Process Technologist will play a key role in leading their food manufacturing team, taking ownership of projects handed over from the Concept Team. Collaborating with stakeholders, this role involves successfully scaling up recipes for plant trials, conducting trials, and ensuring a smooth handover to operations/technical teams for launch. The Senior Process Technologist will lead handover projects to operations, support pre-production runs, and mentor the Process Technologist and Technician.

 

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the NPD Process Procedure and update process documents to best-in-class standards.
  • Adhere to project critical paths and track project margins for communication to the Process Manager.
  • Conduct micro-analysis, nutritional analysis, organoleptic assessments, heating/storage conditions, light exposure testing, and travel tests for product testing.

 

Conduct Factory Trials:

  • Organise kick-off and pre/post-trial meetings cross-functionally in the business.
  • Establish clear trial objectives and adhere to key quality attributes confirmed with customers.
  • Communicate project updates to the business.
  • Coordinate new raw materials, packaging, and machinery for trials.
  • Conduct a maximum of three trials per project unless pre-agreed with the Process Manager.
  • Collect data for internal specifications, Quality Contracts, and final costing.
  • Lead final gate meetings with the Process Technologist, presenting product and data information to the customer.
  • Attention to detail throughout whole process is key to success in role

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in the food industry in a similar process/NPD role.
  • Basic understanding of processing machinery and methods within food manufacturing to successfully scale up
  • Degree in Food Science/Technology or a related subject (desirable)
  • Be a trouble-shooter
  • Experience in project management 
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Capability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams
