About the Multi Skilled Engineer job
The purpose of your role will be to primarily be responsible for ensuring that key projects and engineering duties required on site are fulfilled. Responsible for resolving engineering issues, problem solving, finding solutions and address any mechanical, electrical, or civil issues that arise.
Key tasks
- To carry out pre-planned preventative maintenance tasks to defined schedules and procedures and to carry out repairs in the event of break down, to all production equipment and plant, sourcing materials, and ensuring repairs are to a sound and food safe standard. Provide solutions to practical problems on site - electrical, mechanical or civil as well as keeping accurate records and log issues as unplanned maintenance.
- Follow current legislation, approved codes of practice and Company requirements e.g. Site Procedures, Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedules, Health and Safety, etc. recording any breaches and implement remedial action. Participate and demonstrate job role to third party visitors, auditors, enforcement and regulatory authorities as required.
- To assist the cleaning / sanitation team to carry out their duties in and around plant / equipment. Liaise with the Management team to inform them of changes to plant and equipment that may have an impact upon the activities carried out in their area of responsibility.
- Ensure that all maintenance/engineering staff have skills and training appropriate to their appointed tasks. To ensure that all new employees receive company, job and health and safety inductions from the first day of appointment. Promote team working throughout the site and to ensure that all maintenance/engineering staff are regularly briefed and consulted on the achievement targets, complete in-house and external training.
- Suggest recommendations for improvements in site lay-out and the efficient utilisation of plant and equipment. Attend internal meetings, briefings or company updates/presentations as required Identify
- Understand the management of allergens, glass and breakable plastic control and organic products.
About You
The successful candidate shall be strong in both electrical and mechanical disciplines ideally with a good understanding of FMCG/food manufacturing and health and safety processes. A Minimum age 18 years (due to machinery involved) and a good level of spoken and understanding of the English language.
- Be able to follow written and spoken instructions i.e. QMS instructions, procedures and production schedules.
- Extensive mathematical and scientific knowledge, numeracy and literacy skills are essential. Maintain a strict level of personal and workplace hygiene.
- Show initiative, take on additional responsibility and complete tasks set through to the end as well as maintaining work independently unaided and working as a conscientious team member with open communication to all necessary parties.
- Ability to work well under pressure using own initiative in a calm and meticulous manner. Approaches tasks mindfully and possesses good concentration and observation skills, priortising issues which require immediate attention.
- A keen eye for detail particularly with repetitive tasks, a quick thinker who assesses and handles risks accordingly.

The Multi Skilled Engineer job is based in Cambridgeshire and is paying between £40,000 - £50,000 according to your experience.
The working hours are site operating hours are between 8:00am – 8:00pm – there can be flexibility with working patterns, ideally the successful candidate should reside nearby and be prepared to provide emergency cover in case of breakdown.
