Product Developer - R&D

The Company

This is a great opportunity to join an expanding branded business producing inspirational food products for discerning consumers. As part of a larger multinational food group, they are passionate about good quality products with high nutritional value, and are now looking for a creative Product Developer to be part of their growing R&D Innovations team.

The Role

Reporting to the R&D Manager you will take responsibility for the creation and delivery of new and existing ranges for UK and global markets. You will work closely with marketing teams, taking an active role in creating food briefs that meet brand, consumer and business needs. You’ll be keeping up with food trends and undertaking competitor analysis and presenting products to key stakeholders.

The role will involve managing projects through all the stages of the NPD / R&D process from concept to launch, encompassing creative development and commercial evaluation, along with technical viability. You will drive recipe, flavour, texture and nutritional aspects of the products, evaluating feasibility and regulatory requirements.

You’ll work closely with 3rd party manufacturers to scale up products; attending factory trials and launches. You’ll also liaise with quality teams to ensure products are produced to the highest standards to ensure the company’s positive reputation is maintained and continues to flourish.

The Person

We are looking for an ambitious R&D or NPD Technologist who has gained product development experience within a food manufacturing, retail or branded business. Food Science / Food Technology / Food Nutrition qualifications are required for this role.

You’ll have a proven track record of developing and launching innovative food products into the marketplace, and will be able to demonstrate excellent presentation, organisation and project management skills, as well as knowledge of the complete product development cycle. You’ll need to have great communication and influencing skills so that you can work effectively with internal teams as well as supplier and manufacturing partners.
