Are you an experienced leader in the field of food manufacturing, quality assurance, and technical management? We have an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join the technical team.

The role

As the Lead Technical Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all technical aspects of food production. Reporting directly to the Technical Director, you will be responsible for implementing and driving the technical strategy. This role involves managing the day-to-day activities of the technical department, leading a team of Quality Assurance Managers and Technical Systems Managers, and serving as the senior technical point of contact for retail customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Active involvement in shaping and executing the site/business technical strategy
• Directing the company's quality management system to ensure compliance with industry standards, including BRC and HACCP procedures
• Incorporating retailer Codes of Practice into the Quality Management System and ensuring full compliance
• Reviewing and enhancing existing policies to improve quality management systems
• Representing the business on all technical-related matters
• Ensuring staff competency and development, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
• Liaising with senior management, suppliers, and customers
• Agreeing and controlling the technical budget for the business unit
• Supporting other business unit departments as required
• Managing the supplier approval process and collaborating with suppliers on quality/technical performance
• Overseeing and delivering against internal and external audit standards

The candidate

You will have experience working as a Technical Manager within fresh produce or food manufacturing, have experience of dealing with retailers and have the ability to manage and motivate a team.
