Job Details

Due to expansion and continued investment in new product development we have a new Project Engineer opportunity. You’ll manage new engineering capital projects from concept, installation, commissioning to final sign off. With a good understanding of safety legislation including PUWER and an ability to influence and engage with key stakeholders both internally and externally, you’ll be an experienced Project Engineer looking to work with an established and professional team.

The Recipe
Working alongside the Head of Project Engineering and working with our Project Engineers, who are Industry experts, to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels. 
You’ll be responsible for Engineering projects throughout the UK bakery network from London to Scotland. We will therefore need you to be fully mobile and able to travel through the Bakery network as required. Our Central Engineering team are based in Bolton, and you’ll be required to work form Bolton a couple of days per week.
Our Project Engineers lead the engineering Innovation process and collaborate with the Innovation team and our suppliers. You’ll be providing engineering leadership that is required to deliver all Innovation and Growth projects that require engineering and implementation solutions.
 
The Role

  • To collaborate with the Innovation, Central and Operations Engineering teams in order to identify and lead effective process steps to enable successful Innovation product launches
  • Responsible for the delivery of all agreed engineering projects on time, to agreed standards and on budget ensuring that Continuous Improvement is embedded every time
  • Managing the sourcing of our suppliers and those relationships therefore you will be experienced in the negotiation and purchase of plant items and machinery for major projects.  
  • Working with our SAP system you will also ensure that our supplier agreements are managed effectively. 
  • To lead engineering resource to work with all stakeholders across Innovation projects and deliver end user requirements to defined scope and standards
  • To work effectively with the Head of Project Engineering to ensure all Innovation projects are suitably resourced with the relevant technical skills
  • You'll be a natural communicator, someone experienced in leadership and people management; able to coach and influence the operational site teams to enable the very best support for your projects ensuring a clear understanding of new processes and technology.
  • We never compromise on Health & Safety or Quality therefore you will be responsible to drive our Health and Safety strategy, legislation and company standards in all project work as a priority. You will also be responsible to identify and instigate Food Safety and energy usage improvements within your area of responsibility. 

Essential Ingredients

  • Significant Project Engineering and operational engineering experience, gained within a multi-site manufacturing, distribution or FMCG environment.
  • Possess an Engineering Qualification such as HND, HNC, BEng or equivalent
  • Project management skills obtained through experience of constructing and delivering capital based activities.
  • Awareness of latest technology and engineering techniques applicable to drive efficiency improvements and ensure Best Practice
  • Be influential, articulate and persuasive, a relationship builder- establishing credibility with both internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • Working knowledge of CAD or similar 
  • Ability to read drawings and interpret designs
