Raw Materials Technologist

Our client, a fast-growing Food Manufacturer based in Nottinghamshire, is looking for a Raw Materials Technologist to join their Technical Team.  The successful candidate will support the Technical department to ensure raw materials comply with food safety and legislative requirements 

Reporting to the Senior Technical Co-ordinator, responsibilities for the role will include:
•    Ensuring timely review & approval of all raw material specifications and supplier documentation. 
•    Ensuring supplier approval documents are kept up to date 
•    Updating company systems and assisting with approval on company spec system 
•    Assisting as necessary with the completion of customer queries and documents. 
•    Assisting in third party visits and audits, participating in the company internal audit program and providing support within the Technical Department. 
•    Conducting internal traces and supplier traces 
•    Ensuring relevant company risk assessments are kept up to date 
•    Requesting and collating VACCP information. Responding to customer VACCP queries. 
•    Carrying out internal audits e.g. GMP and scheduled audits 
•    Assisting in the approval of new artwork 
•    Covering the Goods In QA role when required which will include raising non-conformances,  managing hold stock, raw material testing and goods intake checks

Essential / Desirable skills include:
•    A degree or equivalent in a Food Science or related discipline 
•    Experience in reviewing raw material or finished product specifications  
•    Knowledge of food legislation, labelling, nutritional and allergen information 
•    A strong communicator with a conscientious and diligent attitude 
•    The ability to be flexible, multi-task and work well under pressure 
•    An understanding of technical systems including HACCP 
•    Competency in Microsoft Word/Excel
•    Physically fit to undertake manual handling and taste testing

The working hours for the role are 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, ideally 9am – 5pm with some flexibility available. The salary is competitive plus an excellent benefits package. A driving licence and own vehicle is recommended due to the location of the site.
