Overview

This is an opportunity to join a leader in the food industry and play a key role in their development by leading the Automation agenda across 2 sites in South Wales.

The Role

• Develop and execute a comprehensive automation strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Lead evaluation, selection, and implementation of PLC-based automation solutions.
• Oversee design, deployment, and maintenance of IT systems supporting automation initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and define project requirements.
• Build and lead a team of automation engineers, providing mentorship and support.
• Manage factory automation IT/network infrastructure and support group IT services.
• Champion a culture of continuous improvement in automation initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
• Develop and manage the automation department budget effectively.

The Candidate

• A relevant degree
• PLC certified training (Siemens / Allen Bradley) preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing automation.
• Strong technical expertise in PLC programming, control systems design, and IT infrastructure management.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards in food manufacturing.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in driving automation initiatives.
• Experience in budget management and implementing change.
