We are seeking a talented individual to join a leading provider of premium quality products to food manufacturers, foodservice, and retailers throughout the UK. The business has undergone significant growth due to its dedication to exceptional customer service and high-quality products.

About the Buyer job

The company already has excellent supply partnerships in place and so maintaining these will be a key part of your role whilst supporting the Head of Procurement and Logistics in providing the business with first class procurement services.

Key tasks

• Liaising between suppliers, internal departments and customers.
• Identifying potential new suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships.
• Negotiating and agreeing new contracts with suppliers, including discount structures and volume rebates and monitor their progress.
• Help the business reach its decarbonisation targets, by working with their suppliers to reduce carbon emissions.
• Forecasting price trends and their impact on future activities.
• Giving presentations about market analysis and possible growth.
• Evaluating bids and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors and insights.

About You

You must have a minimum of 3 years’ buying experience, ideally within food manufacturing / packaging.

• A CIPs Level 3 qualification is desirable.
• High Level of competence in the use of MS Excel with experience of using an MRP system.
• Proactive, positive and highly motivated with the drive to succeed as part of a team.
• Need to have tenacity and the ability to work autonomously.

More details

The Buyer job is based in Somerset and paying a competitive salary according to your experience.  This is initially a 1 year full time contract which could go permanent.

The role will involve some travel to suppliers so you will need a clean driver’s license.

The working hours are Monday to Friday, and they are ideally looking for someone to start in May.
