The Company

This well-respected major manufacturer is at the top of their game in the chilled convenience space. With long established UK retailer partnerships, this company are looking to continue to innovate and delight customers and consumers alike. They are now seeking a creative Packaging Developer who can join their close-knit team and bring exciting new concepts for the food industry.

Please note, this role requires regular travel across multiple UK sites as well as suppliers, therefore a UK driving licence is essential.

The Role

Reporting to the Packaging Development Manager, you will be part of a small team and be responsible for all aspects of developing new packaging concepts for major retailer customers.

You will work closely with packaging suppliers to create concepts that are on trend in terms of new materials, sustainability, and recycling initiatives. Your vision for innovation will embody both existing and new ranges, allowing concepts to translate into robust and tangible commercial solutions that are fit for purpose and really stand out in the marketplace.

You will run factory trials, seeking out solutions, tweaking and adapting as you go. You’ll also be completing technical and product information documentations to ensure key milestones are met. Along with this you will attend customer presentations, create graphical mock-ups, and discuss future possibilities to enhance and clearly communicate your concepts. You will collaborate with suppliers and customers weekly to guarantee successful product launches that deliver on innovation and quality.

The Person

This role would suit an individual who has packaging substrate experience, ideally with films, paper, and flexible plastics, within the FMCG industry. You will also have experience on Adobe Illustrator and have the passion and creative flair to bring concepts to life. You will have strong communication skills, with the confidence to liaise cross-functionally and present to external stakeholders. You’ll also be solutions driven and have the ability to adapt to ever changing retailer demands in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience of working on sustainable packaging initiatives would be highly advantageous.

Alternatively, you could be a graduate with a formal packaging/materials qualification and a year’s industry placement under your belt. If you have the drive and ambition to learn, with the technical material knowledge and creative passions to boot, this could be the role for you.

As mentioned above, will need to possess a UK driving licence for this role and be comfortable travelling to sister sites, as well as suppliers and customers frequently. This is a hybrid role, with 2/3 days on site.
