The company

We are seeking a talented and ambitious individual to work for a small but rapidly growing overseas manufacturer of high quality, prepared food products, mostly supplying to a high-end retailer in the UK. A specialist food business based in the UK founded in the 1990’s.

About the Technical Assistant job

The purpose of the Technical Assistant is to ensure that the business fully complies with all customer codes of practice and legal requirements that relate to the manufacture of food. You will develop and deliver effective systems and processes to monitor, highlight, and improve product quality and food safety.

Key tasks

• Support the creation and communication of documentation and procedures for new product launches.
• Be present at product launches when necessary.
• Arrange and coordinate regular product quality checks and evaluate using agreed quality standards.
• Support cooking Instructions generation, arrange validation and carry out shelf-life assessments.  
• Develop knowledge and understanding of technical challenges e.g. packaging and allergen risk assessments, and support exports internationally.
• Supporting the Technical and NPD functions with any other projects and processes as needed.
• Develop analytical and investigative skills by compiling customer feedback and suggest solutions to quality concerns.

About You

The ideal candidate will have a food development / technology or nutrition degree and will have some experience in product development or food technology, either through an industrial placement or since graduating. Unfortunately, the company are unable to accept applications from people requiring a visa or sponsorship.

• Have excellent attention to detail, be methodical and well-organised.
• Works well in a small team as well as independently.
• Excellent and efficient IT skills particularly Excel and Power point.
• Confident written and verbal communication skills at all levels.
• Takes initiative to see tasks through to completion with guidance from others.
• Capability to work under pressure and be flexible.

More details

The Technical Assistant job is based in South West London and is paying £28,000 to £30,000 per annum according to your experience.

The package includes 25 days holiday + bank holidays, pension.

The working hours are Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week, hybrid working available one day a week.
