This role is working for a leading food processor which supplies predominantly to further food manufacturing. Using modern production facilities, the business provides high-quality products and service and is dedicated to fully meeting and exceeding customer needs.

About the Technical Assistant job

The purpose of your role will be to ensure that the business fully complies with all customer codes of practice and legal requirements that relate to the manufacture of food. You will develop and deliver effective systems and processes to monitor, highlight, and improve product quality and food safety standards.

Key tasks

• To manage the specification system between the company and the customer – ensuring all requested information is communicated in a timely manner.
• Report on trending and information regarding customer and consumer complaints and the respective corrective action.
• Be available during audits to perform traces on raw materials back to their origins and be involved in audit paperwork preparation and support.
• Manage the labelling system - ensuring new product launches and change in customer requirements is accurately reflected on the labels and set up products on companies’ systems.
• Manage supplier approval lists and keep up to date with supplier code of practices and informing the team of any updates.
• Monitor and report microbiological exceptions and produce internal specification for use within the factory.
• Responding to reported incidents.

About You

The successful candidate shall have graduated with a food science, food technology, nutrition or related discipline. Any previous food manufacturing technical or quality experience would be an advantage.

• You will be positive, organised, highly motivated and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. An excellent communicator at all levels, written and verbally. A keen eye for detail.

The Technical Assistant job is based in West Yorkshire and is paying £28,000 - £32,000 according to your experience.
