Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Production Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of the bakery floor, processes and ensure efficiency and quality in our production operations.
Role Purpose:
The Production Manager will be primarily accountable for leading and managing a team of Production Operatives to deliver the necessary production, quality, cost, delivery, technical, safety, and staffing, whilst achieving the defined goals.
Managing the bakery floor from weighing up and mixing until baking is complete and the finished cakes, quality checked, labelled correctly and placed into the temping room then liaising with the Team to ensure production quantities are met and cleared for delivery.
Role Objectives:
Manage the full production process, ensuring the weighing, mixing, depositing and baking of the cakes is done in compliance with the company SOPs.
Ensure that all production on the daily plan is complete and report any shortfalls to the General Manager. Organise which mixes are produced daily to ensure the full utilisation of the oven capacity and the bakery tins.
Liaise and coordinate with support functions to progress issues concerning production planning and resource/skill allocation to ensure delivery of products to schedule within all relevant quality specifications.
Lead by example, ensuring a safe and efficient workplace is always maintained ensuring the team adopt compliant and clean practices. Ensure that internal delivery processes are adhered to support dispatch time windows.
Ensuring that Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) are monitored, and targets achieved. Contribute to the improvement of working procedures by constantly looking for solutions to ensure the best productivity results of her/his machinery group and ensuring compliance with procedures, operating instructions and work instructions.
Ensure all start-up, production and cleaning paperwork is completed daily and hand it in to the office at the end of every shift. To effectively manage your team, including performance management, absence management, training and development, succession planning and any D&G issues, in collaboration with HR where necessary.
As a leader, to be a role model within the business, and set the right example to the rest of the business in behaviours and culture. Lead and motivate the team to create a high-performance culture where improvement suggestions are embraced.
Ensure we are compliant with GMP and liaise with the Technical Manager on any issues.
Complete the monthly GMP audit actions ensuring that any issues flagged and rectified within the given time frame. Duty manager / Key holder/ fire / intruder alarms
Role Requirements:
Proven experience in Food production or catering management. Strong leadership and team management skills. Experience of achieving SALSA accreditation or equivalent. Knowledge of food safety regulations. Good computer literacy skills. Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Good communication skills and the ability to work positively with others as part of a team.
