Due to business growth & development Gunstones Bakery is currently recruiting for an experienced and innovative NPD Manager to support our busy Bakery manufacturing site.

About the Role:

We are seeking a true ‘foodie’ to join as our NPD Manager with a passion and flair to drive and deliver our new products for our best-in-class customers.

You will be highly driven, and customer orientated whilst providing success stories in launches of innovative new products through a creative blue-sky approach to development and market leaders in recipe creation.

You will have a Development Technologist & a Development Baker to help you achieve what you need too in this role.

Duties Include:

  • Manage focused development of new products to deliver the required margin for our customers and the business, including the completion of development costings within agreed commercial, technical and customer briefs and timescales.
  • Work closely with Commercial Manager and Category Manager to understand the market and the consumer and support the delivery of Category Reviews
  • Create new and innovative products in line with agreed business plans & market developments, showing a real flair for food & culinary trends.
  • Excite and inspire the customer and the business with innovation that delivers extra ordinary growth and profit.
  • Challenge existing products and processes, upgrading where necessary.
  •   Effectively manage the development process from concept origination to product handover meeting all deadlines both internally and externally.
  • Ensure self and the development team are up to date with culinary trends via shopping trips, travel, restaurants, exhibitions, market reports, visiting places of interest, reading food journals & magazines to improve their culinary skills and knowledge of foods.

About You:

  •   A strong understanding of our marketplace – products, consumers, and competitors
  •  Exceptionally strong communication skills.
  •  NPD background, an eye for innovation, creative with a real passion for food is essential.
  • Previous experience in a development or development management role with proven knowledge and understanding of all stages in product development.
  •  Experience of supporting the major retailers, ideally M&S, Tesco, JS or Morrison’s, within a bakery environment
  • A ‘foodie’ with a commercial focus who can combine creativity with a complete understanding of full-scale production practicalities.
  •  Excellent working knowledge of bakery, some bakery training would be an advantage.
