JOB ROLE: NPD BAKER
LOCATION: Multiple locations across the group in the UK
SHIFT PATTERN: 45 hours per week Monday-Friday (must be flexible to work evenings and weekends as and when required)
SALARY BRACKET: Dependant on experience
ABOUT THE COMPANY:
David Wood Baking is a fast-growing food manufacturing business operating out of 8 sites across the UK. Supplying most of the major retailers and discounters, food service firms and some of the UK’s leading brands with a selection of speciality bread, pies, sweet and savoury pastries, and ready meal products through both frozen and ambient channels.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Our Development, Technical and Sales teams work closely together to innovate and deliver high quality goods that meet our customer’s briefs and technical standards. DWB is an exciting and challenging place to work and grow, as an NPD Baker you will be exposed to all aspects of new product development and will be responsible for effectively delivering innovation through new products and improving existing recipes in line with the customer expectations and David Wood Baking site agendas. Ensuring the products and projects are delivered to the agreed profitability and timescales.
A demanding role in a fast-paced business that will require a strong individual who has a proactive approach to manage multiple timelines and projects across different sites.
KEY SKILLS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collecting ingredients from the factory and ordering new raw materials in time for kitchen product make up. Requesting data sheets and prices for any new raw materials. Recipe development and the management and maintenance of recipes to ensure correct versions are agreed with customer and handed over to the factory. Ensure that all samples are made to the customer / site requirements within the correct timeframes. Carry out kitchen weights and product measures to ensure the relevant detail of new products are captured and recorded for product handovers. Arranging taste panels for kitchen made products using benchmarks products where applicable. Capturing taste panel feedback and documenting panel outcomes to outline next steps. Dispatching products, ensuring products are well packaged and clearly labelled. Work as part of a team across multiple customers to ensure all projects are delivered to the correct standard and timelines. Driver’s license. Understanding of Ciabatta/Sour Dough an advantage but training will be given. High school diploma or equivalent Strong communication skills Good Maths, English and Computer skills. Attention to detail and High level of creativity.
