We are working with a leading innovator in the bakery sector, committed to delivering high-quality products that delight their customers. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Development Technologist to join their dynamic team.
Job Purpose:
As the Senior Process Development Technologist, you will take ownership of projects handed over from the Concept Team, working collaboratively with relevant stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet agreed-upon critical paths. You will successfully scale up recipes for plant trials, conduct these trials, and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed to facilitate a smooth handover to operations and technical teams. Your role will also involve supporting pre-production runs and product launches for both NPD (New Product Development) and EPD (Existing Product Development) activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the NPD Process Procedure and update process documents to best-in-class standards.
- Manage project critical paths and communicate margin tracking to the Process Manager.
- Conduct product testing including micro analysis, nutritional analysis, organoleptic assessment, heating/storage conditions, light exposure testing, and travel tests.
- Organise and conduct factory trials, including kick-off meetings and pre/post-trial meetings.
- Ensure clear communication of project updates across the business.
- Coordinate the arrival of new raw materials, packaging, and machinery for trials.
- Collect and compile all data for internal specifications, quality contracts, and final costing.
- Lead final gate meetings, presenting products and data to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Guide and mentor the Process Technologist and Technician.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Basic understanding of key bakery ingredients functionality and processing machinery.
- Degree in Food Science/Technology or a related subject.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the food industry in a similar process/NPD role.
- Full Clean UK driving license.
- Flexible working hours and ability to travel between sites and to customers.
