Technical Services Manager

The Company

This leading food manufacturer continue to delight the UK retailers with their expansive offering of delicious chilled products. The time has come for them to find a Technical Services Manager to become an integral part of the team.

The Role

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for QMS, legislation and compliance management for this fast-paced manufacturing site. Responsibilities will include:

•        Communicating directly with key retail customers on compliance, quality and food safety matters, ensuring relationships are maintained and high standards are met

•        Managing and nurturing a small team of Technical Coordinators, developing their skills to drive the business forward through continuous improvement initiatives

•        Managing and maintaining a robust Quality System that meets legal requirements and complies with customer Codes of Practice

•        Orchestrating and leading 2nd and 3rd party audits, ensuring timescales are met and quality standards are maintained

•        Monitoring technical KPI generation and interpretation, including customer complaints, microbiological results, and nutritional performance

•        Managing risk assessments, anticipating technical hurdles and responding to food safety, quality and legality issues

•        Keeping up to date with new legislation and compliance matters, ensuring these are tracked and amended on site.

The Candidate

This role would suit an ambitious Quality Manager, or existing Technical Services professional looking for that step up into an influential and challenging technical role. Ideally you will be educated to degree level in food science or a related discipline.

Experience within a chilled food category is essential, as well as previous experience of working with major UK retailers. A thorough understanding of QMS, HACCP and BRC standards is key. First-rate communication and organisation skills are crucial as you will be liaising closely with internal and external colleagues. Experience of managing and mentoring a team would also be highly advantageous.
