The Company

This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a health-conscious and entrepreneurial food brand who really want to move the needle on health. They are growing quickly and expanding their product range through R&D and NPD with a focus on new food technology as well as their understanding of food / ingredients and consumer trends.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of NPD, you’ll be joining a flourishing Food Development team and manage NPD projects from concept to launch. You’ll need to get your foodie researcher hat on and seek out hot new trends, source amazing new ingredients, play with flavour combinations, benchmark competitor products and translate food trends into fabulous concepts.

You’ll work in collaboration with the R&D Scientists in the team to evaluate new technology and ingredients, adapting / transforming prototypes into commercially viable products. You will also apply your NPD knowledge to identify new opportunities and drive continuous improvements for the brand.

You’ll be actively involved with the formulation of new recipes and refreshing existing ones, and testing and scaling up to ensure the product is of a high specification that meets the company's stringent quality guidelines. You will work closely with the manufacturing site to ensure new products can be successfully implemented with the existing production parameters. You’ll also liaise with suppliers to keep ahead of competitors by identifying raw materials and ingredients that mirror new and emerging trends.

The Person

We are looking for an NPD Technologist / Developer with experience in confectionery, bakery, snacking or ice cream categories ideally. A Food Science / Food Technology or related Science degree is required and you will have forged your career within a product development role where you have showcased your knowledge and passion for the science behind the food and new technology. Your flair for product development, understanding of flavour combinations and emerging terms is also essential.

In essence, you need to be a super foodie product developer who loves to experiment with new ingredients and flavours but is also a bit geeky when it comes to new food tech and food science / functional ingredients. We want it all!  

Suit an experienced food product developer with resilience, tenacity and lots of enthusiasm along with good NPD management and organisational skills, able to work well as part of a small dedicated team- happy to get hands on and take ownership of products from concept to launch. You’ll be really resourceful, proactive and enjoy finding solutions.
