High-end artisanal wholesale bakery in Somerset, is looking for a Head Baker to join its team. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of bread production, leading a team of night-shift staff to drive improvements

Reporting to the Bakery Manager, responsibilities for the role will include:

• To engage, work with, motivate and develop the team members ensuring there is a line of development through the team and they are fully competent in all areas
• Driving improvements in product quality and consistency
• Ensuring the bakery is always audit ready
• Monitoring the condition of the machinery, equipment and utensils daily 
• Informing night-shift team of any management-led information
• Suggesting new products or ways to improve current products
• Promoting a strong Health and Safety culture and work closely with the team to ensure they work safely 

Essential / Desirable skills include:

• Able to produce hand crafted bread to high standards using traditional baking techniques including an excellent knowledge of dough and proofing
• Demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to learn
• Able to carry out physical work
• Reliable, methodical, organised and keen to work as part of a team

The working hours for the role are Monday – Sunday 5pm – 2am working 5 days on a rota basis. The salary is £34k - £37k per annum plus an excellent benefits package.
