The Role.
To help maintain a competitive advantage by being the first to market with innovation the business has an exciting role available to support the global Technical and Quality teams in delivering consistent, high-quality products. The company is looking for a passionate and proactive Technical Specifications Technologist to play a key role, on a fixed term basis, working closely with the Development and Quality teams. This role will ensure new products have all the legislative requirements ahead of launch to market including creating, reviewing and updating finished product specifications and providing accurate technical information to generate pack copy and bill of material data to meet product launches. You will also support with facilitating compliance and product testing, the development team with administrative duties and lead a workstream to streamline existing processes. You must be an excellent communicator, self-motivated and thrive working in a fast-paced environment with high accuracy and a keen eye for detail.
Key Accountabilities.
- Requesting and reviewing all required raw material and packaging supplier specifications and updating our internal systems with the relevant information.
- Supporting the Development and Quality teams in setting up new ingredients and finished goods in our internal systems.
- Creating, updating and managing product and finished good specifications.
- Working with the supply chain and development teams to review, create and update existing and new bills of materials.
- When requested provide accurate advice about the product specifications to customers and the internal global market teams.
- Support the quality team with supplier investigations for any enquiries or complaints.
- Lead shelf life testing plan, supporting the development team in setting up and facilitating internal tasting sessions.
- Manage required testing with external agencies to support new product specification creation.
- Review, streamline and manage the optimisation of the internal specification process.
People Profile.
- Educated to degree level.
- Experience in FMCG or food/drinks manufacturing.
- Experience working with manufacturing and laboratory environments.
- Project management.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Analytical approach and the ability to review large volumes of data.
- Understand technical documents such as specifications, safety data sheets, recipes and manufacturing instructions.
- Technical knowledge of product and packaging development as well as quality systems.
- Excellent IT skills required to handle raw data.
- Ability to interpret large volumes of data, simplify it and present it back to key stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to self-manage resource, be hands-on and have good team working abilities.
