Technical Manager

Ireland's fastest growing consumer foods business and largest chilled ready-meal manufacturer are specialists in innovating within the chilled category across manufacturing, retail, and service channels

Reporting to the Head of Technical and NPD, you will work as part of the technical team to drive the delivery of Technical Standards across the sites’ operations. This will underpin the sites food safety, product quality and integrity and demonstrate leading standards.

Key Accountabilities

• Ensure there is clarity of Technical Standards – which are effectively communicated, understood and applied
• Work with all departments and colleagues to ensure that the food safety, quality, and legality of all products produced is being always maintained, complying with customer specifications to ensure that products placed on the market are safe, compliant, and traceable
• Ensure that the business develops an ‘Audit Ready’ Culture – to consistently deliver successful audit outcomes
• To provide technical expertise and advice in the areas of food safety and legislation
• To drive continuous improvement through developing and progressing the current quality systems and operational processes within the business
• Manage, implement, and monitor the Food Safety Management system ensuring systems are HACCP based as appropriate
• Support the business with management of technical audits, hosting audits as appropriate
• Manages response & close out of non-conformance reports from audits as required
• Develop and implement effective KPIs that measure, trend and identify issues to be communicated both internally and with customers
• As part of the site leadership team, ensures operational team promotion of a food safety culture within the factory environment

Person Profile

• Degree or equivalent in a food related discipline
• Significant experience within a chilled food environment and a good understanding of High Care, High Risk, RTE, RtRH and RTC disciplines
• Experience of managing food safety risks
• Experience of managing projects
• Experience managing people to achieve results is essential
• Experience working and implementing food safety management systems that comply with GFSI standards including BRC
• Ability to work to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment is essential
